Godolphin Wins the Oaks/Derby Double!

ELECTRIC—as in lightning striking a transformer mere feet from your house. That’s how the heart feels when a number 18 Sovereignty starts mowing down the favorite in the Kentucky Derby just one day after Good Cheer ignited a turbo cylinder down the final stretch of the Oaks and won the biggest filly race in the country, too. An Oaks/Derby double means HH Sheik Mohammad and Godolphin join a select group of only three other owners in the history of the race who have accomplished the same feat.

It’s incredible, and this happened to some of the best people I know— my wonderful husband, Dan, and the amazing Godolphin team. I am elated, proud, and so grateful to have been an appendage in this Godolphin world for 23 years now.

For a rare moment we had our nuclear family in tact with Lewis and Eliza dropping everything and dashing to Kentucky the first weekend in May. In the owner’s suite mosh pit celebration, I lost my shoe, my hat, and my mind, but I gained one of the best memories EVER.

I had 250 text messages by the end of the post-race ceremony at the Kentucky Derby Museum, and I can't count the total number of cheers from across the globe since. I like to imagine those two minutes at roughly 7 PM on Saturday, May 3, 2025, when so many family, friends, and acquaintances collectively watched the Kentucky Derby. Degrees of separation add up quickly, and the energy waves raced our way at a rapid clip. I could feel everyone watching with us. Then yelling with us. Then screaming at the TV with us: "Go Sovereignty, GO!" It was ELECTRIC. And I’m still buzzing.
