It’s Fall, Y’all.
I noticed the yellowing of tree leaves yesterday and blamed it on the lack of rain. Surely summer can't be over. And yet, the official end of summer depends on the calendar you use, but meteorologically, August 31 marks the start of Autumn.
Fall's uptick comes without much transition. People go from napping in the sun with a book on their laps to jumping in the car at 7:00 AM fully dressed, with portable coffee and an all-day mindset.
Some begrudge the end of summer, but I love Autumn because it's an energetic reboot, a pull from hibernation, and the start of so many good things, like a new school year, favorite TV shows (summer binges below), festivals, and, of course, FOOTBALL.
I was fortunate to spend time talking with University of Georgia Sports Hall of Famer Loran Smith when he and his lovely wife, Myrna, came for a visit to Kentucky. You don't have to be a Bulldog to appreciate Loran's lifelong love of Georgia. Loran is an enterprising, adventurous, and dedicated storyteller whose talents and longevity will inspire everyone. September is a busy month for everyone, including me. I continue to write my new novel while loving my time sharing Back to Blue Holly at book clubs and a sundry of author events. I’m hitting the road for a little September book tour and can’t wait to visit with my friends (old and new) in Lexington, Atlanta, Macon, and Columbia.
I spent the better part of two weeks this summer in my closet narrating Back to Blue Holly, so I’m happy to announce that it is now available in audiobook format, which you can find here.
There is no way to fully express my gratitude for the love, kindness, support, and encouragement I have felt throughout this journey. I hope you feel the same flowing right back at you.
Happy Fall, y'all!
Beth
P.S. I’m always asking people for TV recommendations. Please send! Here are a few of my summer favorites: The Studio (Apple TV), Friends and Neighbors (Apple TV), Paradise (Hulu), Dept. Q (Netflix), and Gilded Age (MAX) ;-)
