I noticed the yellowing of tree leaves yesterday and blamed it on the lack of rain. Surely summer can't be over. And yet, the official end of summer depends on the calendar you use, but meteorologically, August 31 marks the start of Autumn. Fall's uptick comes without much transition. People go from napping in the sun with a book on their laps to jumping in the car at 7:00 AM fully dressed, with portable coffee and an all-day mindset. Some begrudge the end of summer, but I love Autumn because it's an energetic reboot, a pull from hibernation, and the start of so many good things, like a new school year, favorite TV shows (summer binges below), festivals, and, of course, FOOTBALL. I was fortunate to spend time talking with University of Georgia Sports Hall of Famer Loran Smith when he and his lovely wife, Myrna, visited Kentucky. You don't have to be a Bulldog to appreciate Loran's lifelong love of Georgia. Loran is an enterprising, adventurous, and dedicated storyteller whose talents and longevity will inspire everyone.
